Der brennende Dornbusch
[Only & Limited Ed.] Jakob Knoller
This listing is an independent item not part of any collection
Only edition. , 11 pp. 214:135 mm., wide margins, light age staining, stamps. A very good copy bound in the original gild cloth boards.
Drama about Moses and the burning bush by Jakob Knoller. This is a numbered copy of brennende Dornbusch (The Burning Thorn Bush), number six of two-hundred-seventy-five hand printed copies. The title page describes it as a Biblical scene, which is consistent with Knollerís work. He is best known for his four-part German drama Verheissung, Schuld und Suehne (1941), but has also written other plays with biblical themes. Der brennende Dornbusch is a one act play which begins in the vicinity of the thornbush and consists of dialogue between Die Stimme (the voice) and Moscheh (Moses). Der brennende Dornbusch was regarded highly enough to merit an English translation, as, The Burning Thornbush (1941). Among Knollerís many other plays are, Ein besserer Herr (1941); Jonah and the Storm (1941); Adams Tod (Adamís Death, 1945), also translated into English; Der fremde Herr 1945); and Die Schlacht im Warschauer Ghetto, Drama (The battle in the Warsaw ghetto, 1946).
