[Ladino] Ben Zion ben Moses Alkalai
This listing is an independent item not part of any collection
78, pp. octavo 190:120 mm., usual age staining. A very good copy bound in the original paper wrappers.
Hebrew-Ladino grammar book by Ben Zion ben Moses Alkalai. The Hebrew text is in bold square vocalized letters, the Ladino in smaller rabbinic type. The format of this instructional grammar is brief instructions in Ladino, text in Hebrew, with translations of vocabulary in Ladino. There are conjugations followed by readings in Hebrew. Much of the early text is in question format. The text becomes progressively longer and more difficult, and at the end long passages for the student. The concluding texts are from Genesis and Exodus, recounting the Joseph story, the Ten Commandments, and subsequent text. This edition, bound with its original wrappers, is not recorded in the Bet Eked Sepharim, but only an earlier 1882 printing. It is also not listed in the catalogues of major libraries with Judaica holdings.
