Three piyyutim in honor of the saintly kabbalist R. Macluf ben Joseph called Abuhazera. The first recounts a great miracle that occurred in Fez at an earlier time in Aramaic. The second, in Hebrew, informs that R. Abuhazera is buried in Adasna, retells, with great praise and admiration for R. Abuhazera, how, when an enemy arose to kill the son of the king, and then, when he could not be found, accused the Jews. When the righteous R. Abuhazera heard of the matter he came to the place, revived the dead child already in the grave, thus protecting his people. The third piyyut in praise of R. Abuhazera refers to him as more precious than gold and silver and mentions the hillulah of R. Abuhazera.

R. Macluf ben Joseph Abuhazera belongs to the renowned Abuhazera family of kabbalists and pietists of Morocco. Among the most highly regarded and saintly families in that land, the Abuhazera family is now equally highly regarded in traditional circles in Israel.
