Detailed
Description
Title: Novum lexicon Hebræo-Chaldæo-Biblicum, complectens I. radices easque sæpe deperditas ex Chald., Samar., Syr., Arab. & Æthiopica lingg. quantum licuit, restitutas, unà cum derivatis omnibus, suis hisce radicibus subjunctis. Title printed in red and black, text in double column, woodcut ornaments and initials, Hebrew and roman type throughout. Henrici Opitii (Henricus Opitius or Heinrich Opitz) (1642-1712), German orientalist and professor of Greek and divinity at Kiel, is best known for his edition of the Hebrew Old Testament, published at Kiel in 1709. Opitz corrected the second edition of the Athias bible, according to his readings of seventeen of the best previous editions and of several manuscripts. He supervised the proof in person, and even the type is remarkable for its size and clearness, so that this edition was considered the most accurate extant.
