First edition. , vi, 5-118 pp., octavo, 180:102 mm., wide margins, usual age staining. A very good copy loose in the original cloth over boards, rubbed.
Collection of Hebrew verse and piyyutim over the ages. The title page states that it is choice songs of Zion from biblical times until the present arranged And edited by the publishing firm Toshia. There is Cyrillic on the bottom and verso of the title page, followed by a dedication to the Fourth Zionist Congress in London. There is a four page table of contents listing the poems and their authors, a forward from the publishers, and then the text, in tow columns in square vocalized Hebrew letters. Kinnor Zion begins with verses from Psalms (137), selections from Isaiah, Ezekiel, Lamentations, kinnot, prayers and piyyutim, and continues with some of the greatest poets in the history of Hebrew verse, starting wioth R. Solomon ibn Gabirol, R. Judah ha-Levi, R. Abraham ibn Ezra, R. Judah Alharizi, R. Shem Tov ben Joseph ibn Falquera, R. Immanuel ben Solomon ha-Zafroni ha-Romi, R. Israel Nagara, R. Moses Hayyim Luzzatto, and continues with many others, concluding with more modern poets. Kinnor Zion is bound with its original front wrapper, a pink cover with depictions of King David sitting by a tree playing his harp and standing next to him a woman, presumably representing Zion. In the distance can be seen the ruins of Zion. In the lower left hand corner is the original price of 100.
