Detailed
Description
Proclaiming that the establishment of Israel marks the final redemption from the exile by R. Pinchas Mordecai Teitz (1908–1995), U.S. Orthodox rabbi. R. Teitz was born in Riga, Latvia, and studied at the yeshivot of Slobodka and Telz, being ordained in 1931. He was active in communal work in Latvia, founding the Yavneh yeshiva in 1933 and editing a newspaper Unzer Shtime (1933). R. Teitz went to the United States in 1934 and assumed the leadership of the United Orthodox Community of Elizabeth, New Jersey, in 1935. This model community includes the Jewish Educational Center, a complex of elementary and high schools for boys and girls.

R. Teitz was also known for his radio broadcasts of talmudic lectures, which he began in 1953. He served on the presidium of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada and is the author of Mikhtevei Torah (1953), Ner la-Ma'or (1961), and various articles.
