Detailed
Description
Agreement between two neighbors, Abraham Zalman ben Zisya of Liska and Judah Leib b. Menahem Man on the sharing of real property owned by the two. The lenghty document is witnessed and signed by R. Rahamim Joseph b. Raphael Nissim Franco (1833-1901), Talmudist and chief rabbi of Hebron. R. Franco was born in Rhodes and settled in Erez Israel in 1868. In 1851, when Rhodes was devastated by a terrible earthquake, Franco went to Europe to collect subscriptions for the victims of the disaster. On his return he settled at Jerusalem, and in 1878 at Hebron, where he officiated as chief rabbi until his passing. He was the author of three works, two of which are still in manuscript. The third is a two part book of responsa entitled Sha'are Rahamim (Jerusalem, 1881, 1902).

Additional signatories are David Hai Lilienthal, Judah Leib Shapiro, both Ashkenazim; two Sephardic rabbis; and confirmed in Arabic by the Sultan's representative with seal.
