This listing is an independent item not part of any collection
First edition. , 23-146 pp., quarto, 207:165 mm., use and age staining. A good copy bound in the original illustrated boards, rubbed.
First annual publication of this beautiful illustrated book of stories and poems in German for Jewish children. The book opens with a reproduction of a page from the Sarejevo Haggadah. The title page is followed by a table of contents, listing the stories and contributors, and then a calendar of the Jewish and solar year; each month a separate page with appropriate and varied colored illustrations by Nina Brodsky. Stories are accompanied by numerous illustrations. There are songs with musical notes, and a page of verse, Moshe Rabbenu, in Hebrew, described as a Hebriasche Midrasch. Otherwise the text is in German. Among the many contributors are Ludwig Franz Meyer, Arno Nadel, Naema Beer-Hofmann, Max Levy, and Emil Bernhard. The illustrations accompanying the text are by several artists. A very attractive book.
