Detailed
Description
The first Hebrew grammar printed in English, translated from the first Latin edition (Paris, 1568). Martinius (1530-1594) studied Hebrew and Aramaic in Paris. The English edition was prepared by Puritan clergyman John Udall (1560-1592?) while he was serving a prison sentence for publishing pamphlets attacking the established church. This volume was one of the first Leiden Hebrew imprints by the renowned printer and orientalist Franciscus Raphelengius (Plantins son-in-law).
