   [1] p., 334:207 mm., light age staining, creased on folds, ink on paper, neat Mid-Eastern rabbinic script, signed, dated, and sealed.
   Document seeking financial assistance to the Sephardic community in Jerusalem signed by R. Joseph b. Moses Arwas (1847-1925), Chief Rabbi of the Sephardic community in Jaffa. R. Arwas was born in Rabat, Morocco and arrived in Jerusalem at the age of 12. His keen mind was taught torah by the Chief Rabbi of Erez Israel R. Meir Panigel. R. Joseph served in the Hebron community, was an emissary in 1883-84 and 1901-02 to Morocco. In 1910 he settled in Jaffa where he was Chief Rabbi. He wrote Hod Joseph (Jerusalem 1905) novellae and responsa.

R. David b. Abraham Nahmias (1833-1932), Rabbi of Tanta, Egypt. R. David was born in Morocco and arrived in Jerusalem at a young age. An erudite scholar he wrote Mahne Dan (the abbreviations of his name; Jerusalem 1927) novellae on torts and deeds. Also signed are R. Makhlouf Hazan and R. Samuel ...
