Description
Bet Din decree affirming the disposition of an estate signed by R. Joseph David ha-Kohen of Jassy (c.1750-1828), rabbi of Jassy. He was born in Galicia and studied with R. Mehullem Feivish Heller of Zabrze. He served as rabbi of Tysmenitsa, followed by Zavalov, and finally Jassy. A pious and erudite scholar he wrote Darkei ha-Emunah (Jassy 1857), kabbalistic and hasidic work on the Pentateuch which carries approbations of many important rabbis. The work, Darkei ha-Emunah, is one of the books many Hasidim keep in their homes to guard against evil. This document carries the author's signature!
