Description
   R. Joseph Asser Lehmans (1766-1842) chief rabbi of the Hague and country. He was appointed in 1808 after serving as instructor in the Bet Ha-Midrash for several years. A widely loved and respected rabbi by his community, he was the author of several liturgical works. A lithograph of him was published in 1840 when he was granted an audience with King Wilhelm III.
