Description
   Letter by R. Menahem Mendel ben Aryeh Leib Alter (1878-1942) to R. Iskovitrz in Paris. R. Alter was a scion of the renowned Hassidic Ger dynasty. Known for his mental acuity, headed the yeshiva Darkhei No’am, founded in Ger and active until the outbreak of World War I. From 1920, R. Alter served as Rav in Pavinitz, until 1934, when he was elected the head of Agudat ha-rabbonim in Poland. He visited Erez Israel three times. R. Alter was murdered in the Holocaust.
