Illustrated children's book
החתול שאבד לו שמו
[Only Ed.] Y. Zuta
This listing is an independent item not part of any collection
Only edition. 30, pp., illustrations, 240:160 mm., light age staining, stamps. A very good copy bound in the original illustrated boards, rubbed.
Attractive boards in red and white, four full page interior illustrations in black ink. Teaching in Hebrew in a Hebrew environment in Erez Israel created for the first time in the history of Hebrew children's literature a genuine readership of Hebrew children's literature. This readership generated an urgent and immediate need for adequate texts for children in all the fields of child culture. During the first three decades of the 20th century, the creation of a children's culture in Ereẓ Israel demanded the construction from scratch of all its components, ranging from children's songs to fairy tales, stories, novels, and non-fiction prose, from schoolbooks to Hanukkah, Tu Bi-Shevat, and Passover poems as well as to the ceremonies in schools and kindergartens.
