Letter by R. Jacob Hai b. Baruch Zrehen (1869-1953) chief rabbi of Tiberius. was born and passed on in Tiberius. A erudite rabbinical scholar, he is the author of several scholarly works: Helek Yaakov (Jerusalem 1902) homiletics; Bikhurei Yaakov (Jerusalem 1906) novellae to the Shulhan Arukh Orah Hayyim and Yore Deah; Shuprah deYaakov (Jerusalem 1912) commentary with kabbalistic insights to the Pentateuch; Ohel Yaakov (Jerusalem 1931) commentary with kabbalistic insights to the Pentateuch. All works carry the approbations of Erez Israel's most notable Sephardic and Ashkenazi rabbis. He served as Chief Rabbi of the Sephardim in Tiberius for many years.
