Description Information
   [1] p., 240:153 mm., light age staining, creased on folds, ink on stationary, neat Ashkenazic script, signed, stamped, and dated.
   R. Asher Lippman Zarchi, Chief Rabbi of Louisville, KT was born and attended the Academy of Kovno before transferring to Volozhin. Shortly after his marriage he was ordained by R. issac Elchonon Spector, Chief Rabbi Kovno, Rabbi Yitzchok Meir of Slobodka, and Rabi Chaim Segal of Yanova. Immigrating to the United States in 1891, the Rabbi served in Brownsville, Brooklyn and Des Moines, IA before settling in Louisville where he remained until his passing in 1932 at the age of 68.

Among his writings are several articles for contemporary Talmudic periodicals, as well as a handful of essays for the Ozar Yisroel encyclopedia. The Rabbi was famous for his kashruth certification of the Crisco Corporation.

The Israeli settlement of Nachalat Zarchi was named in his memory in 1946.
