The text begins that at the time that the holy work Toledot Yaakov Yosef appeared by R. Jacob Joseph of Polonnoye the gaon the Noda bi-Yehudah was opposed to the students of the Baal Shem Tov. When he received Toledot Yaakov Yosef the Noda bi-Yehudah declared that it should be burned. This caused great pain to R. Jacob Joseph who came to R. Jacob Shimshon, a student of his, in a dream, instructing him to journey to Prague and dispute with the Noda bi-Yehudah over Toledot Yaakov. R. Jacob Shimshon did as told and came to Prague, dressed as one of the poor of the city, with his bundle on his shoulder. Vikuah Rabbah is an account of the encounter between the Noda bi-Yehudah and R. Jacob Shimshon and the outcome. R. Ezekiel ben Judah Landau (Noda bi-Yehudah, 17131793) was a leading halakhic authority of the 18th century.
