The Zionist Federation of Germany (the "ZVfD") was founded in 1894 as "the "Nationaljüdische Vereinigung für Deutschland" in Cologne by Max Bodenheimer (1865-1940). In October, 1897 its name was changed to the Zionistische Vereinigung für Deutschland ...It had about 10,000 members in 1914 and reached 20,000 members during the 1920's..
Jüdische Rundschau [The Jewish Review] was the twice-weekly journal of the German Zionist movement. Along with the C.V.-Zeitung (Central Vereins-Zeitung), an umbrella periodical devoted to all Jewish political concerns, the Judische Rundschau ushered in a new era of German Jewish journalism, the political newspaper. The intensity of the intellectual battles fought between Jewish political philosophies in these periodicals was unparalleled in any other country.
