He was a man who fought in the Knesset to actualize full rights for the Sephardi community...obligatory education for children four and older...this is the only party that represents the interests of the Sephardi community. Eliahu Eliashar (1899-1981) was born in Jerusalem, Israel and studied Medicine at the University of Beirut and Law in Cairo and at the Jerusalem Law School. During WWI he served as a Junior Medical Officer in the Turkish army.
He served in the first and second Knesset.In addition, He worked in the Mandatory Government, 1922-1935 - Managed the Trade Bureau in the Customs and Trade Department - Edited the Trade Bulletin of the department - Left Mandatory Government and went into business in the private sector - Member of the Sephardi Community Committee in Jerusalem (1938) and member of its Presidium - In 1942 was elected President of the Community - Member of the National Council and leadership of the Hagana in Jerusalem - Member of the defense Committee of the Provisional State Council - Published and edited the weekly ôHed HaMizrachö, 1942-1952 - In 1947 was elected President of the Sephardi Committee in Jerusalem .
