Description
Distinguished Palestine explorers Colonel Wilson, Canon Tristram, Charles Warren, M. Rogers, and notably Major Claude Reignier Conder, R.E., as well as several others helped create the magnificent balance between image and word in this work on the Holy Land. Profusely illustrated with 39 steel-engravings, 2 maps, and over 500 full- and in-text wood engravings after original drawings by J. D. Woodward and Harry Fenn. The illustrations depict evocative scenes from the middle east showing beautiful architecture, old world life and customs, as well as hundreds of images of breathtaking landscapes and scenery.
